I turned 23!
Honestly, it feels exactly the same as 22, but I’m slightly more aware of how fast time is flying past. I’m really happy with this stage of my life and I wouldn’t mind stopping the clock here for a while. Just slow down and take it all in! In saying this, I realise that I should be ensuring that I make the most of everyday I have, really do the things that make me happy and try to stop stressing over things that won’t even matter to me later down the track.
This year, as we are trying ever so hard to save, Kody and I decided not to buy each other birthday gifts. But that didn’t stop him going above and beyond to make my day special. My celebrations started the day before when he cleaned down the house, top to bottom, while I was asleep. When I say, he cleaned, I don’t mean he did a little tidying and called it a day. He tidied, vacuumed, moped, emptied/filled the dishwasher, cleaned the stove, washed the walls and cleaned the toilet and bathroom. He did absolutely everything he could think of! Best present ever! And it was a complete surprise!
He also cooked me crepes and woke me up for a hot crepe breakfast on my birthday. Delicious!
After breakfast mum and I went shopping, she usually comes to Perth with quite the shopping list, all the things she can’t easily buy in the rural area she lives in. We also went into all my favourite and local thrift stores. We had fun!
For dinner, we all piled into the car and visited Kody’s mum and brothers for a delicious Italian takeaway dinner. One of my favourite takeout meals is Romano’s, it is phenomenal!
A huge thank you to all my family and friends who went above and beyond to make my day special, also to all those of you who sent me sweet birthday wishes, I really appreciated it and I had a wonderful day xx.
I’m going to be honest, I had a standout gift this year. Kody’s family took a cue from my birthday wishlist and bought some items from the Too Faced Sweet Peach collection for me. I received three products, the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette, the Sweet Peach Glow Palette and one Peach Oil Lip Gloss in the shade Tickle Me Peach. I knew what was inside the mecca package before I found my way to the products under the tissue paper as the beautiful and intense peach scent had already hit me. It was gorgeous!
I also grabbed a few little goodies from Sephora for myself, I got the Kat Von D Black Magick Lip and Liner Duo, which I have been after for a while. I really wanted to test out the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, it is so many peoples holy grail, I just had to test it for myself. I also picked up some Sephora bath bombs and the IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream, which was on sale as it was a Christmas limited edition product.
When mum and I went shopping on the morning of my birthday we honoured tradition and popped into as many thrift stores as was reasonably possible. Although price doesn’t matter she paid for these books I picked out. Fifty cents for the wildflower book and one dollar for each of the novels! I already have way too many books to read but I’m happy I can add these to the ever growing pile.
Mum also brought be a few handmade goodies from Bridgetown, where she lives. She brought me a peg apron and a small makeup bag. Along with a decorative bowl and new loofah which I picked out while we were shopping. A bit of a random selection, but they will all be used in due course.
Have you had your birthday recently?
What did you get?
Did you get any stand out gifts?
Thanks for stopping by.
