{Beauty} Oval Makeup Brushes – Are They Worth The Hype?

I was recently sent these gorgeous oval brushes from Simple Glam Girls, I’ve spent all month testing them out and checking that I loved them before recommending them to you! Not only did the ladies at Simple Glam Girls give me the brushes, they also made sure that you don’t miss out either, and sent me a code for 20% their site!

I don’t know about you, but I have been seeing these oval makeup brushes everywhere recently! They have taken over Instagram and have fully cemented their way into every beauty vloggers collection… But, are they worth it?

I’m going to be honest with you, when Simple Glam Girls contacted me about sending me their products I was a little sceptical. I didn’t think the brushes would be good quality, and I thought that the shape and style wouldn’t be right for me.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out my initial worries weren’t warranted. In my mind, the pros far outweighed the cons! Whilst the metallic section of the handle wasn’t as high in quality as I would have liked, it was plastic, not metal, the bristles and the rest of the handle really outshone my quality expectations. The handles are comfortable to hold, feel good in your hands, and the bristles on the brush are super soft and dense.

I have to be honest with you, I’m in two minds about these brushes, some have made themselves integral tools in my makeup kit, yet a few do seem a little superfluous. I use one of the large oval brushes as my everyday liquid foundation brush, and a smaller oval one has been great for applying my concealer, especially in my under-eye area. The small eye brushes are also quite effective; however, I’m still love my traditional brushes too. Ten brushes seem a few too many though, it feels as though a few have just been doubled up on. I can see that these brushes definitely work better with cream products, and don’t tend to work well for powdered products.

So, are they worth it? I think a few key brushes would improve any makeup kit, however, in this set there are a few brushes that probably won’t get used quite as much. I was really impressed with the quality of the Simple Glam Girls brushes, especially their bristles, so I think it is a very cute and useful set to own!

I have never seen brushes like these before! They look interesting! They sort of remind me of those old fashion hair brushes, the oval shaped flat sort. 🙂

They are actually really to use for base products, a little trickier for contouring and eyes, which I still have yet to master, but they are still a heap of fun! If you do decide to buy some I’d love to see your review! Xx
