I managed to go through a total of seventeen products this October. It felt like quite the effort! Most items are in skincare and haircare as usual, but I also managed to go through a couple of cosmetic items this month too! Sad to see a few of these emptied, and I’ll be sure to let you know which ones I can’t wait to repurchase.
La Roche-Posay Ultra Micellar Water Reactive Skin | $25.99 (200ml)
This 100ml sample bottle of La Roche-Posay Micellar Water was gifted to me in the third Priceline Skincare Gift Bag I picked up. I really liked this micellar water, I used it morning and night, and it was great at removing makeup. Although, it is more expensive than other brands I have tried, but not necessarily a more outstanding product.
Repurchase decision: I probably wouldn’t spend the extra coin to buy the La Roche-Posay brand.
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towlettes – Night Calming | $7.99 (25pk)
I keep buying these Neutrogena wipes, and I really enjoy them, but one thing keeps bugging me… the packet never reseals properly! After the first few uses the tab stopped being sticky and it wouldn’t stay closed. In the end I just sealed them as best I could and stored them upside down to keep the packet fresh.
Repurchase decision: I probably won’t pick these up again.
Essentials Cosmetic Pads | $2.00 (160pk)
Again, my favourite cosmetic pads from Target. I love that these are soft, cheap and have sealed edges!
Repurchase decision: Yes! I’m already onto a new packet.
Simple Spotless Skin Triple Action Face Wash | $9.99 (150ml)
This cleanser was mostly used by Kody, but I tried it out too! It was pretty good, one of the top 10’s. It’s creamy and foamy, and seems to agree with Kody’s and my skin, appearing to help reduce acne breakouts.
Repurchase decision: I will definitely be buying more Simple Face Wash, although perhaps not the Triple Action variety.
Cala Body Refresh Loofah Bacial Buff | Unknown
I bought a whole heap of these facial loofahs off Ozsale ages ago for next to nothing, and they are still serving me well. Every little while I swap them out with new ones, but I’m still loving using them, and I use them to wash and cleanse my face almost every day.
Repurchase decision: I don’t think I can get them anymore, but if I saw them on Ozsale again I’d snap up another bundle in a heartbeat.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel | $24.99 (50g)
I think Kody must drink this stuff (joking!! It’s not recommended, do not do this!), he goes through nearly a tub a month. He absolutely loves it, as do I. It is a super effective, yet light weight moisturiser, and it is my secret sunburn remedy.
Repurchase decision: I have multiple tubs as backups which I buy every time I see them on sale!
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream SPF 50+ – Fair | $61.00
I absolutely love this foundation. It is one of my top two or three and I think it is fantastic, I’d even go so far as to say it is a Holy-Grail product! The It Cosmetics CC Cream is a very lightweight product, and it sits well on your skin, evening out your skin tone and hiding red blemishes without completely overpowering your skins natural characteristics.
Repurchase decision: Yes. I’ll be adding another tube to my next Sephora order.
Essence Camouflage Cream Concealer | Unknown
Unfortunately, this is one of the older ranges of Essence concealer and they no longer distribute it. I remember it being really cheap when I originally picked it up, only a few dollars I think, so it was excellent value. The two colours also matched my skin tone surprisingly well, I used the lighter colour on my undereye area, and the darker was used to spot cover blemishes. Very occasionally I noticed that this cream could appear a little powdery once dry, but for the most part it was a great product and I’m sad to see it was discontinued.
Repurchase decision: I would if I could.
Impulse Body Spray – Vanilla Kisses | $4.99
You know me, I love my Impulse body sprays. This time I chose the scent Vanilla Kisses, and it was gorgeous, I just can’t seem to find it again…
Repurchase decision: I’m already using another can of Impulse Body Spray, but it is in the scent Instant Crush.
Select Cotton Tips | $1.00 (200pk)
These are just very cheap cotton buds, the cotton is a little sparse on the ends, but overall, they aren’t bad for their price.
Repurchase decision: Yes, they are cheap and adequate.
Gilette Satin Care with a Touch of Olay Shaving Gel | $7.99
I love the Gilette Shaving Foam, I’m always featuring my used-up cans on my empties posts. This Vanilla Cashmere scent was deliciously subtle and elegant, and I love using it to shave, it always leaves my legs feeling so smooth!
Repurchase decision: I haven’t got any more just yet, but I’m sure I’ll grab another can soon!
Schick Hydro Silk Blades | $19.29 (4pk)
I thought it was time for a new razor blade on my absolute, hands down, favourite shaver! I love my Schick Hydro Razor, and I am regularly replacing the blades to ensure a smooth shave.
Repurchase decision: Yes, I’ll keep using this razor and the replacement blades.
Batiste Dry Shampoo – Tropical | $9.99 (200ml)
Is it even an empties post if there isn’t a can of Batiste Dry Shampoo included?! I usually go through at least one can a month to keep my super oily hair in check, and I’m continuing to love Batiste, it’s still the best in my opinion!
Repurchase decision: Yes, I’m already onto my next can.
Hask Greek Yogurt Blueberry & Acai Repairing Shampoo | $19.99 (240ml)
This was fun, and it smelt amazing, but I did buy it half price at Priceline’s 50% Haircare sale, and I probably wouldn’t pay full price for it. It did feel luxurious, and I enjoyed using it immensely, but it didn’t do too much extra for my classically oily hair.
Repurchase decision: I might get this again if I wanted a little extra pampering, but only if it was on sale.
Swosh Personal Care Shower Caps | $1.99 (8pk)
My mum came to stay with me this month, and she bought herself this packet of cheap shower caps to leave in my bathroom. Since they came from a $2 store I think they were quite good value, as disposable shower caps go…
Repurchase decision: Probably not, as I don’t use shower caps.
Lush Sea Spray | $13.95 (100g)
Unfortunately, this got pushed to the back of my haircare products on rotation, and I noticed this month that it had expired. I’m sure I would have been fine to keep using it, but I thought I’d better be safe than sorry, and if I’d already had it so long without barely making a dent in the contents then I’d probably never finish it.
It wasn’t my favourite texturizing salt spray, and I felt that it frequently made my hair feel lumpy, stuck together and sticky. It ended up being too difficult to apply perfectly, and I reached for other, easier products instead.
Repurchase decision: No, I wouldn’t get this again. I have a few other texturizing/salt sprays which I prefer.
Lady Jayne Styleguards Kink-Free Spirals – Black | $7.99 (8pk)
I actually really like these kink-free spiral hair ties. They don’t leave pony marks/kinks in your hair, they don’t pull any hair out or get stuck easily, and they give your pony tail some extra volume too! I was using these all the time before my latest chop, although at the moment my hair is too short to actually tie up properly…
Repurchase decision: Yeah, when my hair grows out a little I’ll pick some more of these up!
