{Beauty} November ’16 Empties

This month I slightly stepped up my empties game and used up 19 products, compared to the 7 products I used up in October.  But if I’m being honest I still feel that my skincare routine is lacking and I’m being lazy about it, recently my skin rebelled and let me know it wasn’t happy with my lack of commitment and gave me a nice little breakout to remind me to up my game, alright, I got the hint! It’s full skincare routine every night from now on!

Skincare Products:

Wotnot Biodegradable Wipes* | $8.99 (80pk)
I was so happy when I discovered I could actually use these wipes, all the other Wotnot wipes that I have seen so far have contained nut products. I have always heard such good things about Wotnot too, it was definitely something that I wanted to test out one day. Thanks to the Bloggers United AU event I was able to test this little 5 wipe sample, we were also given a pack of facial wipes but I had to pass them on as they contained nuts. Wotnot didn’t disappoint either, the wipes were strong and soft, they removed makeup easily and were also hydrating, what more could you ask for? Oh, you would like it if they were natural, organic, extra-large, were suitable for sensitive skin, contained aloe and vitamin e and also contained no alcohol, chlorine, perfume, parabens, PEGs and petrochemicals, oh well they have all that covered too!

Repurchase decision: Yes, I will buy more of these, these are my favourite wipes to date, plus they are also the cheapest!

Tata Harper Smoothing Body Scrub | $70.00 (150mL)
Another little sample I acquired was this tiny tub of Tata Harper Smoothing Body Scrub.  It was a small sample, however I had more than enough in the tub to do a delicious face scrub! I really needed to rehydrate my skin after a face wipe fiasco (more on that further down) and this scrub really did the trick, removing all the dry, dead skin cells.

Repurchase decision: It is probably a little costly for me, but I enjoyed the product.

Swisspers Rosehip Rejuvenating Facial Cleansing Wipes | $6.69 (25pk)
This pack of facial wipes was included in the Priceline Skincare Gift Bag from last June. While I used up all of this product I thought that it was only average. The wipes were too thin for my liking, I had a few rip while I was removing my makeup and apart from that nothing else stood out, which makes me just feel a bit meh about them!

Repurchase decision: No, I wouldn’t bother.

Philosophy Purity 3-in-1 Cleanser | $34.40 (220mL)
Another tiny sample pack I picked up was 6mLs of this Philosophy Purity Cleanser. I have only had a few Philosophy products in my skincare arsenal but I think it is safe to say that the running theme is delicious scents, even this cleanser which had no definite smell had a really nice scent to it. As for cleansing, this did the trick, nice and easy!

Repurchase decision: Yes, I would be interested in trying out more of the Philosophy skincare range.

Garnier Gentle Make-Up Remover Wipes | $6.99 (25pk)
I was ready to rant and rage about this product… but it turned out to be my bad! Basically mum bought a 3pk of these wipes when we were grabbing the last Priceline Skincare Gift Bag, she kept 2 packs for herself and gave one to me as I hadn’t tried this brand of wipe before. I was using it for about a week before I noticed that even though I was moisturising my skin was turning really dry and patchy, I thought it might have been the change of weather and didn’t think much more about it. A few days later I noticed that my skin was getting a bit itchy and bumps were forming under the surface, that’s when I stopped using the two new products in my routine (this and my new Bourjois foundation), but I was pretty sure it was the wipes. I was angry that they had basically destroyed my skin, my face was dry, red, flaky and bumpy! It was then, after over a week that I decided to check the ingredients (I always check before I buy something so I thought I had already done so), anyway, turns out that I was rubbing almond oil into my face and having allergic reactions to it! Surprise, surprise! I’m guessing that people who aren’t allergic to tree nuts wouldn’t have these issues! Moral of the story, always check!

Repurchase decision: I won’t buy these again due to my allergies.

Skin Physics Superlift 3D Deep Hydration Lifting Mask | $29.99 (3pk)
After the face wipe fiasco (above) I decided to do a face scrub followed by this hydrating mask that I received in the last Priceline Skincare Gift Bag to try to take away the dryness of my skin. I’m happy to report that this mask was the beginning of recovery for my skin, and after this, the Tata Harper scrub and a few days of rest my skin went back to normal! This mask was well fitted to the face as well due to the 3D effect, it was really comfortable to wear!

Repurchase decision: I might purchase these again.

Swisspers Cotton Balls | $3.59 (200pk)
These were originally bought for my skincare routine, but if I’m being completely honest I much prefer cotton pads, so I ended up using the rest of the packet to clean the dog’s ears… eww! I find the Swisspers balls are softer and slightly larger than other brands of cotton balls, so at the moment they are my favourites, even though I don’t use them on myself anymore.

Repurchase decision: Yes, but I would buy them for the dogs and not for my beauty routine. I would rather buy cotton pads for my beauty routine.

Lush Mask of Magnaminty | $16.95 (125g)
I’m actually quite sad about this, while I did use it a bunch of times I actually noticed that it had expired, so most of it ended up in the bin! I don’t think I would ever be able to use up the larger tub before it expired! I really love how this mask is soft and gritty at the same time, it feels soothing, but exfoliates, the scent it also super minty and fresh which is just lovely.

Repurchase decision: Yes, I will be buying this again, and the smaller tub is the way to go!

Cosmetic Products:

L’Oreal Infallible Lasting Perfection – #140 Golden Beige | Similar
This sample of L’Oreal foundation came in my October Lust Have It bag, I can’t really add anything new from my earlier observations, I can just repeat them, the shade golden beige was too yellow toned and dark for my skin, however the foundation was buildable and gave quite a high amount of coverage. The biggest downside for me was the stickiness after application, which required drying time of roughly 30 minutes to start fading.

Repurchase decision: No, the drying time and sticky feeling were too much of a hurdle for me.

Fragrance Products:

Impulse Perfume in an Aerosol – Sweet Smile | $4.99 (75mL)
This month I used up a can of deodorant that was not in my usual scent. Sweet Smile doesn’t say what it is scented with, just that it is meant to spread smiles and optimism. It was a lovely sweet and fresh scent, but I think in the future I will stick with my usual scent, Love Story.

Repurchase decision: No, but it is still a lovely scent.

Body Products:

BOE Essentials Cotton Tips | Similar
I couldn’t find this product again to link, so I added a link to another cheap BOE beauty product, cotton balls! I’ve had this giant container of cotton tips for ages, and I just remember buying them from Big W because they were cheap. To be honest the quality didn’t sacrifice too much to lower the cost, it was actually a great product, I half expected there to be no cotton on the tips so that you scratch your ears (anyone else done that? It’s not pleasant!).

Repurchase decision: If I could find them again I would probably buy them!

Jawor Apothecary Lavender Delight & Rose and Geranium Bath Bomb* | $17.50 (3pk)
A brand new Perth business that I urge you all to checkout is Jawor Apothecary! My Aunty (in-law) started her own business which officially launched this December, she makes a variety of “no-nasties” products which are infused with essential oils, amongst these products is her bath bomb range which she generously gave me to test out before her online store had opened. If I’m being honest I would class these more as a bath fizz than a bath bomb, as they didn’t foam or create any kind of visible explosion, they simply fizzed around in the bath tub. It was nice knowing that no nasties went into my bath tub, and it was a very relaxing experience, I especially loved watching as the different petals were soaked off the bath bomb and floated to the surface!

Repurchase decision: Yes, I’ll probably grab some more of these, but I could never break free from my love affair with Lush!

Lush Sparkly Pumpkin | $8.95
Not one of my favourites. I bought this Halloween pumpkin bubble bar with grand intentions of soaking in it on Halloween, that didn’t happen and I ended up using it on the first of November instead. It was a really pretty bubble bar, shaped like a pumpkin and covered in golden glitter, when you broke into it the inside was an intense, bright orange shade! Usually bubble bars can last you two or three uses, but since it was already after Halloween I decided to use the whole thing at once. I think this is where I went wrong. The smell was too intense. It says that it is scented with orange flower, blackcurrant, juniper berries and lime, but after a few minutes of soaking I called Kody to remove Theo, as I thought he was laying outside the bathroom door farting (he’s pretty notorious), turns out Theo was at the other end of the house and couldn’t be blamed. I’m not sure if it would have been nice if I didn’t use it all at once, if anyone else has tried it then let me know!

Repurchase decision: Nope, I can’t do it again!

Buff & Polish Coconut & Lime Body Scrub* | $10.00 (100mL)
I was gifted this fabulous Buff & Polish scrub at the Bloggers United AU Perth Event back in October, coconut and lime is one of my favourite summer scents, and this scrub did not disappoint! One thing about this gorgeous scrub that did give me a little shock was that the exfoliating factor is Himalayan pink salt, so make sure you’re not freshly shaven, and have no cuts on your skin as it can sting. Other than that, I think the scrub went well and I hope to have a proper review of it up soon!

Repurchase decision: Yes! I just picked up a Buff & Polish strawberry and lime scrub the other day!

Nair Mini Wax Strips | $9.49 (20pk)
I always use these wax strips, you will have probably seen more of these wax packets consistently popping up in my empties posts than any other product, except maybe dry shampoo! There is nothing new I can really say about them, I tried another brand a little while ago, hated the experience, so I’m back to Nair, in my opinion these are the best wax strips I’ve tried so far!

Repurchase decision: Yes, if I need more I will continue to buy the Nair ones.

Radox Muscle Soak Bath Soak | $6.50 (500mL)
I’ve used this bath soak a few times, but mostly Kody empties these bottles. This is good at relieving muscle pain, Kody uses it to soak away the pain from his back and I like to soak my legs in a warm tub after a particularly long shift!

Repurchase decision: It’s on the shopping list as we speak!

Palmolive Oil Infusions Body Moisturiser | $9.99 (400mL)
This November I used up a Palmolive Moisturiser sample out of my September bellabox, as I said in my bellabox review this product had a lovely fresh scent of jasmine, avocado and orange to it, and it soaked into my skin really nicely.

Repurchase decision: I can’t see myself buying it again as I have other things I prefer, but it was nice!

Rexona Women Classic Anti-Perspirant | $7.17 (250mL)
So I found this can of anti-perspirant at the bottom of my bathroom draw, it was unopened, but old, as Rexona have changed the shape of their bottles since I bought this one! Anyway, I managed to use it all up, and am now onto my second older style can, I’ve always used Rexona anti-perspirant, but I’m not 100% why. They always seemed like a trusted brand and have never failed me, so I’ll probably keep on buying them.

Repurchase decision: I’m currently using up the second can of this, after that’s gone we’ll see what happens, I might try a new brand to see how it goes!

Hair Products:

Hello Hair Natural Hydrating Shampoo + Conditioner Duo* | $50.00 (200mL per bottle)
This is another sample that I was lucky enough to pick up at the Bloggers United AU Perth Event back in October. I got a few uses out of this sample pack of shampoo and conditioner and I loved it. It made my hair super soft and silky and to me it just smelt like a good memory, it says it has orange and lime scenting it, but I’m not too sure exactly what I was thinking of as I washed my hair, I just knew it was good!

Repurchase decision: Yes, I may get this again as I really loved the scent!

What products have you used up this month?

I think I’m about the only person who hasn’t tried Mask of Magnaminty yet. I’ve tried just about every other damn LUSH product, just not that one – go figure. Boxing Day sales, here I come!

Go you for using so many different products!

Thanks Erin, it definitely felt like a lot of products in November, I don’t think I will have as many this month! I only had a small sample of the Philosophy cleanser, but from what I tried I liked it, if you can give it a go!
