{Beauty} July ’17 Empties

Another month down, time to empty out the beauty bin!

This July I went through 14 products, and most of them were full sized in the haircare category. Since I was participating in the #nobuyjuly challenge this month I had to make sure I could stretch my products as far as they would go. Although I did have to buy some dry shampoo, when I realised I didn’t actually had backup cans in my bathroom as I thought, but I consider dry shampoo to be a staple, and not an extra beauty product!

Skincare Products:

Garnier Skin Active HydraBomb Tissue Mask – Green Tea | $4.99
I bought this mask this July to help qualify me for the latest Priceline Skincare Gift Bag. It was on sale for $3.49 at the time, and I thought it was the perfect time to try out something new! I found this sheet mask to be incredibly cool and soothing to my skin, and I did feel more hydrated after using it.

Repurchase decision: Yeah, I would buy it again, but at the same time, I’m not overly fussed by it.

Biore Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips | $7.29 (6pk)
I bought these when they were on sale at Woolworths a few weeks back, and I finally found the courage to test them out. I was expecting them to hurt when you remove them, but in all honesty, they weren’t too bad. Once I tried the first strip there was no stopping me. I absolutely love these! I got so much grime and oil that were filling up my pores out, I even used these strips on my chin (although not advised on the packaging). My only complaint is that I wish they were bigger, I’d love to use these all over my face!

Repurchase decision: Yes! I can’t wait to grab another packet!

Ecopads Australia Reusable Facial Wipes* | $12.00 (5pk)
My latest Secrets Organic Box contained one of these reusable wipes, and I just loved it! I think it is such a good idea, and a great way to cut down on disposable waste. I’d love to buy more of these, or potentially make myself a few more so that I can keep washing them, and hopefully I’ll be able to phase out disposable facial wipes altogether!

Repurchase decision: Yes, I’d love more of these!

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes – Night Calming | $7.99 (25pk)
This is another item I bought to qualify me for the last Priceline Skincare Gift Bag, and when I purchased it I paid $6.39 for 2 packs of 25 towelettes. In other words, they were less than half price! I always tend to gravitate towards whichever makeup wipes are cheapest at the time, and these felt like good value you for money, especially since they were less than half price! I found that I quite enjoyed these wipes, they were strong and sturdy, yet soft on my skin, and effective at removing my makeup.

Repurchase decision: I’d buy more of these again, but probably only when they are on sale.

Cosmetic Products:

City Colour Duel Lip Wand – Rose | $4USD
As you probably recently saw, this was one of the items in my May ’17 Lip Monthly bag. Unfortunately, this went straight from the bag and into the beauty bin! I hated it! The colour payoff was all wrong, the lipstick was patchy and the gloss had barely any tint to it, it smelt strongly of chemicals and it was an all-round cheap product. Bit of a disappointment…

Repurchase decision: Never.

Fragrance Products:

Impulse Perfume in a Spray – Love Story | $4.99 (57g)
I empty one of these almost every month. Love Story is by far my favourite scent, I just can’t get enough of the berry and floral aroma from this can!

Repurchase decision: Yes, I’ll keep on buying it!

Body Products:

Alpha Keri Body Slimfit Cellulite Reductor and Slimming Serum | $49.99 (200ml)
This serum was included in the second Priceline Skincare Gift Bag I received back in November. I’m having trouble summing up exactly how I feel about this product, because I’m not sure if I saw results. I was sceptical of this product before beginning to apply it, and I definitely wasn’t helping it out as I didn’t apply it regularly, and I barely exercised, but I think I saw some results. And I don’t know how that could be possible… I still have cellulite, but I do feel like it was slowly going down while I was using this serum, not getting worse as I expected.

Repurchase decision: It’s a little pricey, but I’d be keen to give it another go.

Pearl Bar Natural Whitening Toothpaste – Peppermint* | $19.95 (113g)
This little sample was included in my first Secrets Organic Box, the June edition. I actually found it really difficult to get through this sample, as I hated the taste by the end of it. It doesn’t taste too bad at the beginning, but it leaves an after flavour in your mouth that is just impossible to get rid of!

Repurchase decision: Nope.

Haircare Products:

Batiste Dry Shampoo – Sweetie | $9.99 (200ml)
Can you believe that I used up three bottles of dry shampoo this month? I can! Even though I was participating in the #nobuyjuly challenge this month, I did have to duck into Priceline to grab some more cans of dry shampoo. It’s a staple for me, not optional. I managed to go in on their 50% off haircare sale, so I bought 4 cans of Sweetie, the only scent they had left. But I don’t mind as Sweetie is actually quite nice.

Repurchase decision: Always!

Batiste Dry Shampoo – Tropical | $9.99 (200ml)
One of my favourite Batiste scents, the classic tropical, was also in my empty bin, as I used the last of this up before I found out that I didn’t have any backups in my bathroom cupboard.

Repurchase decision: Also always!

Schwarzkopf Strong Styling Hair Spray | $8.99 (500g)
Kody mostly uses this hairspray, but I still use it from time to time. I like the hold it gives without making my hair feel hard and crunchy. I always buy the same hairspray as I think it is great value for your money!

Repurchase decision: Yes, we are already onto another can.

Josh Rosebrook Balancing Conditioner | $30.00 (240ml)
It seriously takes me ages to get through any conditioner I have. I don’t use it every time I wash my hair, as I tend to have very oily hair naturally, and I don’t have a great deal of hair, so I only use the smallest amount on the ends. This sample bottle of Balancing Conditioner has lasted me for months! I finished the matching shampoo back in March! It does a fantastic job of making my hair healthy and glossy, and it totally smells like lemon Turkish delight!

Repurchase decision: It is quite an expensive brand, so probably not.

Garnier Fructis Oily Roots Dry Ends Shampoo | $6.49 (250ml)
I have very oily hair. It’s a pain, I am constantly going through stashes of dry shampoo (see evidence above), and nothing really seems to sate it. This is one of the few shampoos I have found that works fairly well in my hair. Although it isn’t a cure all.

Repurchase decision: Yep, I’m going through another bottle already.

What products did you use up this month?
Have you tried any of these?
What is your favourite product that I emptied this month?

Thanks for stopping by.

Yes dry shampoo is most definitely a staple! I’ve never seen that Sweetie fragrance of Batiste and I’m a hardcore Batiste dry shampoo user lol!

Thanks for the support Di, I just got this from Priceline, I think it is probably going to be a limited edition scent though…

Oh I agree dry shampoo is a staple – and you can definitely buy staples in no buy July! πŸ™‚ I hate when I get to the end of something and realise I don’t have any spares – which reminds me I need to get a couple more things for the bathroom as I am nearly at the end of a few bottles!

Hope you are having a good week so far πŸ™‚
